Jesuit's tea, Mexican-tea, payqu (paico), epazote, mastruz seeds (Dysphania ambrosioides)

Dysphania ambrosioides, formerly Chenopodium ambrosioides, known as wormseed, Jesuit's tea, Mexican-tea, payqu (paico), epazote, mastruz, or herba sancti Mariæ, is an annual or short-term perennial herb native to Central America, South America, and southern Mexico.
Although it is traditionally used with black beans for flavor and its supposed carminative properties (less gas), it is also sometimes used to flavor other traditional Mexican dishes: it can be used to season quesadillas and sauces, soupes (especially those containing huitlacoche), mole de olla, tamales with cheese and chili peppers, chilaquiles, eggs and potatoes and enchiladas. It is often used as an herb in white fried rice and an important ingredient for making the green salsa for chilaquiles.

It also works against coughing (anti-asthmatic). Externally used as a poultice for haemorrhoids, insect bites or snake bites and for wound healing. It has a analgesic effect and against fungal diseases (antifungal).
The Mexican epazote should not be used by children and not in pregnant women.

But Epazote has other benefits:
The essential oil from the plant is also used in cosmetic products. The plant has an insecticide effect and is used as a repellent against mosquitoes, as an additive in fertilizer against insect larvae as well as against lice and bed bugs. It also serves as a dye plant, with golden-green shades.
