What tools do I need to start in RC?
To tinker and adjust your RC car, you need a minimum of tools that can evolve according to your needs.
To start, you first need a small tool box with
- A medium-sized flathead screwdriver (5.5) to adjust the carburettor, Serflex collars for example...
- A medium-sized Phillips screwdriver
- A set of allen keys (1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4 and 5 in priority) -> T-wrenches are preferred for better tightening
- A set of Torx keys (T10, T20 and T25, see also T8)
- A set of spanners (5.5, 7, 8, 10, 12 and 14mm)
- 10mm or 13mm socket wrench depending on the car for screwing the wheels
- A little ruler
- An analog or digital caliper...(always used, axis height, diameter and length of the screws to be measured...)
As a necessary tool, to make your settings, you need:
- The inclination-goniometer
As a handy tool you can buy:
- The height gauge for droop
- The wheel axle height gauge
- The setup bench (very practical for toe-out and toe-in)
This is only a first list, it can be greatly exceeded.
