What tools do I need to start in RC?

To tinker and adjust your RC car, you need a minimum of tools that can evolve according to your needs.

To start, you first need a small tool box with

  • A medium-sized flathead screwdriver (5.5) to adjust the carburettor, Serflex collars for example...
  • A medium-sized Phillips screwdriver
  • A set of allen keys (1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4 and 5 in priority) -> T-wrenches are preferred for better tightening
  • A set of Torx keys (T10, T20 and T25, see also T8)
  • A set of spanners (5.5, 7, 8, 10, 12 and 14mm)
  • 10mm or 13mm socket wrench depending on the car for screwing the wheels
  • A little ruler
  • An analog or digital caliper...(always used, axis height, diameter and length of the screws to be measured...)

As a necessary tool, to make your settings, you need:

  • The inclination-goniometer

As a handy tool you can buy:

  • The height gauge for droop
  • The wheel axle height gauge
  • The setup bench (very practical for toe-out and toe-in)

This is only a first list, it can be greatly exceeded.
