B1869 - Superb Antique French Leather Jewellery / Glove Box Padded Silk Lining, Circa 1860

This is a gorgeous antique French leather jewellery / glove box dating from the Napoleon III era C 1860. It is in superb antique condition and of wonderful quality.

It is covered in textured leather in a rich burgundy hue. The lid has a beautiful metal embellishment in a flower, leaf and berry design to the top left hand corner. There is a further decorative embellishment to the right hand side and a decorative hinged metal clasp.

The lid of the box lifts up to reveal a sumptuous padded and buttoned interior in a gorgeous electric blue coloured silk. The base of the interior is lined with a silk velvet in a matching hue. The silk and silk velvet are in amazing antique condition with no wear.

The box has strong hinges and sits on four little studs.

The box is sturdy. There is a little minor scuffing to the leather.

The box measures :- 29.25 cm (11.5 inches) wide x 9 cm (3.6 inches) deep x 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) high.
