P104 - SOLD

This is a particularly beautiful and rare antique English barbola dressing table mirror and candlestick set dating from the 1930's.

The colours are vibrant and the condition is fabulous.

The mirror has a ribbon bow and flower crest and there is ribbon and flower detail to the rest of the frame which is painted gold. The ribbon is in sublime shades of blue and the flowers are in pinks and purple as well as two shades of the blue.

The mirror plate is bevelled and is clear of foxing. The mirror stands on a back rest which is secured by a chain.

The matching candlesticks are made of wood and are also painted gold. There is extensive flower detail to the base and around the central column.

The lovely vibrant shades of blue are present again and there are touches of red and white to the flowers.

The undersides of the candlesticks are covered in a sublime soft brown cotton velvet.

The condition of the set is astonishing with no chips to the flowers. There is just a sliver of wood missing from the mirror back rest. This does not show and does not affect it's stability.

When standing the mirror measures :- 43 cm (17 inches) high x 29.5 cm (11.75 inches) wide x 18.5 cm (7.25 inches) deep.

The candlesticks (without the candles) measure :- 25.5 cm (10 inches) high x 13.5 cm (5.25 inches) across the base.

This is a beautiful set to finish off a special dressing table and another divine find from La Belle Étoffe!
