B989 - SOLD

This is a beautiful antique French plaster bust dating from the early 1900's. It is a very decorative and atmospheric piece.

The subject is a gorgeous young maiden called Margueritte. She has beautiful wavy hair which falls down her back and frames her very pretty face. Her eyes are soft and brown, she has a blush to her cheeks and her rosy red lips form a perfect painted cupid's bow.

She wears her soft cap tied with a bow. Her dress is laced at the bodice. It drapes softly over her shoulders and has a low neckline with a frilly collar. Margueritte wears the flower of her name pinned at her breast.

The colours of the bust are dark atmospheric shades of brown and green against which the red of Margueritte's lips and her flower contrast perfectly.

She is on a substantial plaster plinth bearing her name. On the back are the maker's marks.

The bust is in good antique condition with just a tiny distressing from the passage of time.

Margueritte measures approx. 37 cm (14.5 inches) high x 20 cm (8 inches) wide x 13 cm (5 inches) deep.

This is a gorgeous bust to add an authentic antique French finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
