This is a beautiful vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid 1900's. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch to a room and make a fantastic bed head.

It depicts a beautiful and serene 18th Century country scene. The setting is idyllic and is based on the gardens of Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon in the grounds of the Palace of Versailles.  All the characters are happy and relaxed, and it is a joy to look at.

The characters are on an island surrounded with an abundance of trees, flowers and lush vegetation. Their pets and animals sit quietly amongst them. Behind them is the water of the lake and a village and a windmill can be seen in the distance.

The colours are beautifully clear and fresh. Pastel shades of pinks, blues, turquoise and lilacs contrast perfectly against the softer green hues of the vegetation.

The tapestry is made of linen and wool and is of lovely quality. It is in excellent vintage condition. There is evidence around the edges that it was once mounted on a frame.

It measures :- 190 cm (6ft 2 inches) wide x 98 cm (3ft 2 inches) high.
