B918 - SOLD

This is a spectacular pair of antique French château curtains dating from the mid 1800's. They are very long, drape beautifully and absolutely ooze quality. They would be superb for a boudoir or an elegant salon.

They are made from an excellent quality cotton textile which has good weight and is lovely and crisp. It has a striking Indienne 'Tree of Life' design printed in amazing detail in browns, beiges and cream on a cobalt blue and cream striped background.

The curtains are in wonderful condition for their age. They have an overall very light antique patina (see photos) but there are no obvious marks to draw the eye. The edges of the curtains have faded a little with the passage of time but overall the colours are bold and well defined.

The curtains are trimmed on all edges with a matching passementerie. The tops of the curtains are sewn into pinch pleats and have their original brass rings.

The curtains are lined. The linings do show the patina of the last 160 years or so but  are intact and wholesome.

Each curtain measures :- 315 cm (10 ft 4 inches) long x 175 cm (5 ft 9 inch) wide at the bottom and 102 cm (3 ft 4 inches) at the top.

A gorgeous pair of antique curtains to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another rare brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!

N.B. Any curtain accessories that we have used to display the curtains are not included unless otherwise stated.
