B911 - SOLD

This is a superb large antique French plaster bust dating from the early 1900's. It is a very atmospheric piece.

The subject is a rather saucy young maiden called Rosette. She has beautiful wavy hair which frames a very pretty face. Her eyes are soft and brown, she has a blush to her cheeks and her rosy red lips form a perfect painted cupid's bow.

She wears her soft cap in a very jaunty manner with the ties pulled upwards in a bow on the top of her head.

Her dress is laced at the bodice. It drapes softly over her shoulders but is in a bit of disarray and shows rather too much decollatage! The colours of her dress are stunning shades of silver, burgundy, rust and charcoal grey. Rosette wears the flower of her name pinned at her breast.

She is on a substantial plaster plinth bearing her name. It is signed on the back and bears the makers marks and 'Paris'.

The bust is in good antique condition with just a little  distressing from the passage of time.

Rosette measures 53 cm (21 inches) high x 29 cm (11.5 inches) wide x 18 cm (7 inches) deep.

This is a gorgeous bust to add an authentic antique French finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
