This is a beautiful pair of antique French rope & tassel curtain tie backs dating from the early 1900's. They are in excellent condition and would look very chic with a pair of château curtains.

Each tie back has two plumptious tassels hanging on their multi-corded ropes. The colours are lovely shades of coral red, green and champagne.

The tie backs have a short wooden tube bound with thread which is used to control the length of the rope loops around the curtain. The shorter the loops the longer the the tassels hang.

The tassels are made of many strands of silk. They are held in a wooden core bound in thread and overlaid with with a thread lattice.

Each tie back measures 65 cm ( 25.5 inches) from the back of the cord loop to the end of the tassel. The tassel itself measures 16 cm (6.25 inches) from the point of insertion of the rope.
