B841 - SOLD

This is a sublime pair of long vintage French linen curtains dating from about 1950. They would look superb in either an ultra modern or vintage interior.

The linen has a fabulous grey back ground and is printed with the most gorgeous  floral design in amazing colours. The colours are vibrant shades of pink, turquoise, yellow, green and orange. The contrast against the grey back ground is stunning.

At the top of each curtain there are sewn 4 antique French toleware curtain rings and there is a tape at the end to tie to a pole.

The selvedge of the outer edge of each curtain is clearly visible and has the name 'MARIGNAN' 'grand teint meuble' printed on it. This selvedge could easily be hemmed back out of sight.

The textile of the curtains is very crisp and in excellent condition with no holes. In fact it looks like new and it is only on closer inspection that it's vintage character is evident in the form of a fabulous overall sepia patina. This is a look that we love but it would probably wash out if required.

There is a little fading of the textile at the meeting edge of the curtains but this does not detract.

The curtains are very long and they have a huge hem that could be let down to make them even longer if required.

Each curtain measures :- 278 cm (9 ft 1.5 inches) long x 124 cm (4 ft 0.75 inches) wide.

A gorgeous pair of curtains to add an authentic vintage French finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!

N.B. As you can see we had a little help with the photography!
