This is a fabulous pair of antique French gilded church pricket candlesticks dating from the 19th Century. They would have stood on the church alter but would now make a very stylish addition to a château chic interior.

Each candlestick stands on a decorative triangular base with lion's feet. Acanthus leaf scrolls extend upwards from the feet to adorn the corners. Each of the sides of the base is intricately decorated with a religious image. One side has the Madonna, one side has Jesus Christ and the other Joseph.

The column of each candlestick is of the classic Empire style and the bobeche are simple with clean lines.

The candlesticks are in good condition and are sturdy. The gilding on one of the candlesticks has mellowed a little more than that on the other and it has some fabulous verdigris. We have left this as it is a look we love but it would polish off if required.

Each candlestick measures :- H 39.5 cm (15.5 inches) to the top of the spike x 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) along one of the sides of the base.

Whether placed on a simple country buffet or a grand enfilade these gorgeous candlesticks will look stunning.
