This is a stunning vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid 1900's.

It depicts a fabulous 18th Century hunting scene with lots of action. It is set in a beautiful wooded valley with a fast flowing river. Liveried huntsmen restrain magnificent dogs and horse and riders gallop across the scene.

The men are superbly dressed. They wear stunning coloured coats and tricorner hats and carry their hunting horns slung across their bodies.

The colours are very subtle and fresh. The scene is dominated with the greens, browns and ochres of the vegetation against which the blues and reds of the huntsmen's coats contrast perfectly.

Around the central pictoral panel is sewn a wide border with a gorgeous flower and leaf garland, and this finishes off the wall hanging beautifully.

At the top of the reverse of the tapestry are sewn 10 wrought iron loops to hang it on a wall. The tapestry is nice and heavy and hangs well.

The tapestry is made of wool and linen and is in excellent condition.

It measures :- 189 cm (6ft 2.5 inches) wide x 104 cm (3ft 5 inches) high.
