This is a superb antique French ormolu & silk picture frame dating from the 1800's.

It would be perfect for a boudoir, perhaps placed on a bedside table.

The frame has a beautiful ormolu quiver and torch crest entwined with ribbon and flower garlands.

There is a decorative ormolu border at the outer and inner edges of the frame and between these there is moiré silk in a gorgeous shade of  faded mushroom.

The frame holds an antique photograph of a rather grand lady wearing a fur collar and a large pearl at her neck. This could be changed if required.

The frame has a sturdy back rest .

The frame is in good condition, the glass intact. There are a few minor dents to the ormolu but this does not detract in any way. The ormolu on the crest  and outer border has mellowed over the years while that of the inner border has remained brighter and this is an attractive contrast.

The frame measures 21 cm (8.25 inches) high x 15 cm (6 inches) wide.

While standing it is 9 cm (3.5 inches) deep.
