This is a sublime pair of large antique French textile covered boudoir boxes dating from the 1920's.

We found them in different locations but have put them together as a pair as they look superb stacked and one fits inside the other perfectly.

They are covered in the most gorgeous cotton chinz fabrics with vibrant florals on a black background.

The smaller box is lined with paper with a swirling leafy design and it has a lift out compartmentalised tray. It is very clean with just a little speckling to the paper and fading of the fabric to the back of the box. On the base of the box is the label 'SAMARITAINE - PARIS'.

The larger box is lined with vibrant red paper and is also very clean. The lid is trimmed with passementerie with the merest hint of wear to one of the corners.

Both boxes are sturdy and in good vintage condition.

The smaller box measures :- W 30 cm (12 inches) x H 8 cm (3 inches) x D 19 cm (7.5 inches).

The larger box measures :- W 33 cm (13 inches) x H 10 cm (4 inches) x D 22.5 cm (9 inches).
