This is a charming antique French religious plaster statue of  Joseph with the infant Jesus dating from the early 1900's.  It is very decorative and would make a stunning addition to any vintage display.

Joseph cradles the slumbering infant Jesus in his arm and the two of them make a very serene pair. Their faces are painted in lovely detail. The sleeping baby has a sweet blush to his cheeks and Joseph's eyes are calm and dreamy.

Joseph holds a long stemmed flower in his left hand and Jesus clutches a crucifix to his chest.

The statue has become gently distessed and patinated over the years and this gives character to this lovely old atmospheric piece.

It measures :- H 32.5 cm (12.75 inches) x W 10 cm (4 inches) x D 8 cm (3 inches).

A stunning and interesting piece to add an architectural feature to a display and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
