This is a divine pair of antique French ormolu curtain tie / hold backs in the Empire style and dating from about 1880.

They are of fabulous quality with good weight and excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The back plate is slim and elegant with a pineapple finial. The hook has an acanthus leaf scroll and ends with a fabulous grape filled acanthus leaf cup.

The gilding on the ormolu has a gorgeous golden buttery hue.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook.

They measure :- H 16 cm (6.25 inches) x W 3.25 cm (1.3 inches) x D 14 cm (5.5 inches).

A superb pair of tie backs to add a château chic statement and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
