This is a superb antique French fitted leather suitcase dating from around 1900. It is of fabulous quality and condition and has many of it's original accessories.

The leather to the outside of the case is thick and glossy in a rich shade of mid brown. There are studs to the bottom and back of the case to protect the leather from scuffing. The case has a strong leather carrying handle and the two locks work perfectly and have their original keys.

The case opens to reveal a sumptuous interior lined entirely with gorgeous tactile burgundy leather. The base of the case is fitted to take the many accessories and these include :-
Two glass cologne bottles with metal caps and ground glass stoppers.
Two glass containers each holding a bristle shaving brush.
Two wood backed bristle brushes.
Two further glass containers, one filled with powder & a puff.
A round metal stud box.
A metal box containing a razor.
A leather bound mirror which stands or hangs from a loop.
A leather bound manicure set.

The lid of the case holds a useful pouch for taking delicate items such as silk ties or stockings. There is also a shoe horn, a comb in a leather case and a letter opener.

We have left the case and it's contents as we found it. The leather could be waxed and the metal accessories polished if required. All is in good order except that there is a chip in the glass on the shoulder of one of the cologne bottles. This has been shown in one of our photos and you can see how thick is the glass of these wonderful old pieces.

The case measures :- 49 cm (19 inches) wide x 31 cm (12.25 inches) deep x 15 cm (6 inches) high.
