B649 - SOLD

This is one of the most exquisite antique French porcelain trinket boxes I have ever seen. It dates from about 1900. It would be perfect for holding a few trinkets and would add a château chic touch to any boudoir.

The detail on the piece is fantastic. It is gilded and stands on little cabriole legs. In the centre of the lid is the monogram A M and around this, hand painted in enamel, is a tendril of 4 leaf clover in flower with two little flying birds. A  further 4 birds fly around the base.

The painting is executed in gorgeous detail and colour. The vibrant pink and green of the clover stands out beautifully against the lustrous gilded background. The sheer joy of the swooping birds is captured perfectly.

The lid lifts off to reveal the purity of the creamy white porcelain within.

The trinket box is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is a little rubbing of the gilding in one or two places but this does not detract from the beauty of this gorgeous piece.

The box measures :- 6 cm (2.3 inches) high x 11 cm (4.3 inches) wide x 7.5 cm (3 inches) deep.

This beautiful box would make the perfect gift for someone with the initials A & M or it could just be used and enjoyed by anyone.

Another divine antique French find from la Belle Étoffe!
