This is a superb antique French hand bell dating from the 1800's. It would have probably have been used by a lady to summon her servants in her château.

The bell is made of brass and is cast in fabulous detail. It is decorated with 4 faces interlinked with swags of fruit. The decoration is very three dimensional and the quality of the casting is excellent.

The bell is a weighty little piece. It is very tactile and compels you to ring it! The clapper is also nice and heavy and the resultant ring is loud and clear.

The brass on the bell has mellowed over the years to a lovely antique hue.

The bell measures 14 cm (5.5 inches) high x 7.5 cm (3 inches) wide.

A gorgeous little bell to gain a little attention and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
