This is a divine antique French ciel de lit / bed couronne or bed canopy.

It would have been hung above a bed to create a decorative centre piece from which to hang drapes.

It has a metal frame to which is attached a sublime toleware flower garland.

At the centre of the garland is a gorgeous bow with ribbon tails and to this is attached an exquisite rose with a hovering butterfly.

Within the garland are leaves and buds, bunches of berries, flowers with extending anthers and more roses with butterflies. It is all made in fantastic detail - look at the roses with their many whorls of petals!

As if this wasn't enough the couronne also has fantastic antique patination. The original cream paint has weathered over the years to an amazing finish that could not be replicated.

The couronne has two brackets each with two holes for attaching to a wall.

It measures :- W 87 cm (34 inches) x D 56 cm (22 inches) x H 13 cm (5 inches).

This is a divine bed canopy to add an authentic shabby chic finishing touch to a boudoir and another fabulous antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
