B549 - SOLD

This is a divine antique French wax bust dating from the late 1800's - early 1900's. It is in the style of Jean Antoine Houdon and is extremely charming.

The subject is a very pretty young mademoiselle. She has beautiful hair styled in ringlets and held back with a bandana. She has sweet, child like features with an adorable air of innocence.

The wax is finely moulded and has an atmospheric dark ochre hue.

The bust sits upon a gorgeous gilded plaster plinth. The plinth is columned and has good weight.

Both the bust and it's plinth have survived the years in excellent condition. We have left them as we found them. The wax would clean further if required and the plinth has a tiny amount of distressing.

The bust on it's plinth measures 36 cm (14 inches) high x 20 cm (8 inches) wide x 12 cm (4.75 inches) deep. The plinth is 10 cm (4 inches) high.

A gorgeous bust to enhance any period display and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
