B514 - SOLD

This is a superb antique French wirework wine bottle cradle which can be used for decanting or pouring wine. It dates from about 1920.

It is in extremely good condition and of exceptional design and quality.

The cradle sits on a woven base from which  the wire is worked upwards in a lattice configuration into a sauce boat shaped wire basket with a ‘spout’'. The 'spout' holds the neck of the bottle with the aid of a hinged strap which clips into position.

Above the base is an intricately woven ‘rope’ band which is shaped to form the handle at the rear of the wine pourer and culminates at the front of the pourer underneath the ‘spout’ .

The wire work is intricate and of excellent quality and condition. It has mellowed to a wonderful shade of pewter but would polish to a shiny finish if required.

As you can see from the photographs a 70cl wine bottle (not included) will nestle nicely into the cradle. The flexibility of the fantastic wirework allows the cradle to ‘grip’ the bottle safely.

You can serve your wine with consummate style and grace with this decanting and pouring cradle which would look superb on any dining table.

It measures:-  34 cm (13.25 inches) long x  11 cm (4.25 inches) deep x 17 cm ( 6.75 inches) high not including the spout strap.
