This is a magnificent and regal pair of antique French bronze ormolu curtain tie / hold backs in the Rococo style and dating from about 1880.

They are large and grand and would hold back a very sustantial pair of château curtains.

They are of fabulous quality with excellent detail and definition to the casting of the bronze.

The back plate is highly decorative with an acanthus leaf scroll and a shell crest.  The fascia of the hook has laurel and oak leaf garlands extending upwards to meet a further shell crest. 

The gilding has mellowed over the years to a fabulous old gold hue.

The tie backs have a strap on the back of the top plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook.

They measure :- H 20 cm (8 inches) x W 8 cm (3 inches) x D 17 cm (6.75 inches).

A magnificent pair of tie backs to add a château chic statement.
