This is a fabulous antique French carved wood mount / pediment dating from the 19th Century. It is very architectural and would look superb on a wall, perhaps over a door, or would be perfect as a central point from which to hang drapes, perhaps over a bed as a ciel de lit.

The pediment has a central ribbon bow through which a quiver of arrows and a flaming torch are crossed. A flourish of leaves to both sides completes this stunning piece.

We have left the pediment as we found it. Additional gilding has been applied at some stage over the years and this has gently distressed in places. The pediment is sturdy, there is just one chip to the end of one of the leaves (please see photos) which does not detract.

The pediment is of good size and measures:- 71.5 cm (28.25 inches) wide x 26.5 cm (10.4 inches) high.
