B1822 - SOLD

This stunning antique French wood pediment would originally have come from an armoire or mirror and dates from the 1800's.

It is a fabulously decorative architectural piece and would look superb over a doorway or as a centre piece on a curtain pelmet. Fixed above a bed it could form part of a ciel de lit from which to drape curtains.

The pediment is very substantial and three dimensional. It has a beautiful bow and ribbontail crest beneath which are two gorgeous draped swags.

The wood has a lovely graining and a golden glow.

The pediment is in good antique condition. There are a few worm holes on the back but the inhabitants have long gone. There are two dowels protruding down from the base which we have left, but these could be removed if not required.

The pediment measures :- 88.5  cm (34.8 inches) wide x 24.5 cm (9.6 inches) high (not including the dowel) x 4.25 cm (1.7 inches) deep.

This is a substantial and decorative piece to add authentic château chic glamour to an interior and another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe.
