B1709 - SOLD

This is a sublime antique French chocolate box dating from the 1920's. It would have been given as a gift filled with bon bons or chocolates from a high class shop.

The box is made from card and paper. The lid has a gorgeous print of a beautiful  girl. She has lovely waved hair, huge eyes and a sweet smile. Her shoulder is bare and she holds a gorgeous bunch of deep pink peonies to her chest. The background is a sublime shade of pale jade.

The edge of the lid and the sides of the box are covered in paper with a gold and deep pink design on a black background.

The box is sturdy. The card of the print is lifting a little off the lid and there are a few scuffs to the surface but this does not detract from the beauty of this lovely piece.

It measures :- 36.75 cm (14.5 inches) long x  26.25 cm (10.3 inches) wide x 3.5 cm (1.4 inches) high.

A heavenly box to add a touch of happiness to a boudoir and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
