B1648 - SOLD

This is a fabulous pair of antique French Cornely lace curtains dating from the 1800's. They would be divine incorporated into any number of interiors projects - not just at a window but perhaps draping from a ciel de lit.

The textile is a very fine cotton muslin. The curtains have a flower and leaf tendril border to each side and a myriad of flower sprigs across the middle all worked in fine chain stitch.  The curtains are scalloped to both sides and the top is gently gathered onto a tape. The bottoms of the curtains have a 26 cm (10.25 inch) hem which could be let down to lengthen them.

The curtains have been laundered and are antique white. One or two tiny marks remain but nothing to draw the eye. The textile is in general good condition with just one small cluster of tiny holes at the top of the right hand curtain which could be darned (please see photos).  None of these characteristics detract from the beauty of these lovely antique curtains.

Each curtain measures :- 240 cm (7 ft 10.5 inches) long x 127 cm (4 ft 2 inches) wide across the top and 133 cm (4 ft 4.25 inches) across the bottom.

A divine frothy pair of  French Cornely lace curtains to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

Please note that the clips & tie back we have used to display the curtain are not included.
