B1382b - SOLD

This beautiful antique French gilded metal mount would originally have come from a mirror, bed or armoire and dates from the 1800's. It would look stunning over a doorway or as a centre piece on a curtain pelmet. Fixed above a bed it could form part of a ciel de lit from which to drape curtains. We have another one of these, B1382a, and as a pair they would look superb above a pair of paintings.

The design is very striking. There is a central head crest with swagged acanthus leaf and flower garlands to either side.

The detail in the casting of the metal is fabulous. The mount is of excellent quality with good weight. The gilding has a lovely antique hue.

The mount has 3 holes to take pins for fixing and it measures 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide x 8.5 cm (3.3 inches) high.
