This is a superb set of 4 antique French gilded curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 19th Century.

They are heavy, substantial examples of their type. They are of good quality with excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The back plate is oval in shape with acanthus leaf detail. The hook has further acanthus leaf detail and ends with an impressive grape filled acanthus leaf cup.

The gilding on the metal has mellowed with the passage of time to a lovely old gold patina.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole in the top of the back plate to take a screw.

They measure :- H 13 cm (5.1 inches) x W 3.75 cm (1.5 inches) x D 13 cm (5.1 inches).
