This is a sublime vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the early to mid 1900's. It would add a fabulous authentic château chic finishing touch to a room.

It depicts an idyllic romantic 18th Century château garden scene inspired by the gardens of Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon in the grounds of the palace of Versailles. All the characters are happy and relaxed, and it is a joy to look at.

Within this idyllic scene are three lovely young couples dressed in 18th century costume. They are surrounded by their sheep and goats and a little dog looks on. Behind them is the château and lake. The vegetation is lush and there is even a delightful basket of flowers and a flower garland ring hanging from a tree.

The colours of the tapestry are subtle hues of ochre and green with pink highlights in the costumes.

Around this glorious scene is a floral border.  The reverse of the tapestry is lined with linen.

The tapestry is made of wool and linen and is in excellent vintage condition.

It measures :- 187 cm (6ft 1.5 inches) wide x 122 cm (4 ft) high.
