This is a beautiful antique French gesso on wood picture frame dating from the late 1800's, early 1900's. It is very decorative and would certainly add a château chic finishing touch to a little painting.

The frame is rectangular in shape and has a raised border with scrolled acanthus leaf detail. An inner frame with further scrollwork surrounds the aperture.

The gilding has a lovely antique hue and has hints of the red bole beneath. The gilding and gesso have distressed a little in one of the corners.

The frame measures :- 35 cm (13.75 inches) wide x 29 cm (11.3 inches) high x 4 cm (1.5 inches) deep.
The aperture measures :- 22.25 cm (8.75 inches) wide x 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) high.
