This is a superb antique French architectural mount / plaque dating from the 1800's. It is very decorative and has lots of detail. It would be fantastic to incorporate into a building project as a focal point either inside or outside a house. Or it could just be used as a decorative piece and displayed on a wall or perhaps on a console table with other architectural treasure.

It is made of  cast iron and has a subtle hue with lovely antique patination. To the centre is an amazing face and to either side of this are two of the most gorgeous winged cherubs. The face is that of a man with very luxuriant face hair and the naughty cherubs are each tugging on an eyebrow and on one side of his moustache!

Extending above the face is a headdress which forms the central crest of the mount. Beneath the face is a laurel leaf swag with a scrolled curl to either side.  Decorative leaf detail to the left and right completes the design of the wonderful piece.

The plaque measures :- W 34.5 cm (13.5 inches) x H 17.5 cms (6.75 inches).
