B1081 - SOLD

This is a fantastic pair of antique French church candelabra dating from the 19th Century. They would have stood on the church altar but would now make a very stylish addition to a château chic interior.

Each candelabrum takes 6 candles and sits on a sturdy triangular base with acanthus leaf decoration. An elegant leaf and tendril design burgeons upwards from the base and delicately entwines between the 6 bobeche.

The candelabra are made of spelter and are very substantial and sturdy, each one weighing over 2kg.

The gilding has mellowed over the years to a lovely timeworn old gold hue with gorgeous areas of verdigris.

At some stage during their lives the candelabra have been drilled to take cable to convert to electricity. This never took place but may be handy if a conversion is required. The holes do not detract when the candelabra are used for candles.

Whether placed on a simple country buffet or a grand enfilade these gorgeous candelabra will look stunning.

Each candelabrum measures :- 45 cm (17.75 inches) high x 55 cm (21.75 inches) wide (approx). The base is 16 cm (6.25 inches) along each side.

These beautiful candelabra are from a carefully selected collection of gorgeous antique French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
