This is a sublime antique French folding wooden screen. It has 2 canvas panels each delightfully hand painted with cherubs.

The wooden frame of the screen is painted in a beautiful soft baby blue , now perfectly distressed with the passage of time. It is the two panels with the cherubs however, that absorb our attention. They have been hand painted in oil on canvas.

On the right hand panel two cute winged cherubs frollick and play with a beautiful rose garland and on the left hand side, two gorgeous doves hover above our two little cuties.

The colours in the painting are absolutely sublime. Soft pinks and greens with a touch of pale blue form the dreamy palette.

The screen is in good antique condition. It stands on 4 feet and is sturdy. It probably once had glass at the top but this has now long gone. There is one small repair to the canvas on the panel on the right hand side as one looks at it but this is not visible from the front.

The screen measures 113.5 cm (44.5 inches) high x 72.5 cms (28.5 inches) wide when open and 36.5 cms (14.5 inches) when closed.
