B1035 - Impressive Antique French Brass Religious Crucifix / Cross Pas De Paix Sans Dieu

This is a superb antique French brass cross / crucifix dating from the early 1900's. It is large and impressive and would make a stylish architectural addition to a religious display.

The cross is cast in brass and is of excellent quality. Both the front and back are very decorative and detailed.

On the front is Jesus Christ on a simple cross. This has fine detail to simulate the grain of wood. At the top are the letters 'INRI'. Around the inner cross is a more elaborate cross with an intricate design.

On the reverse of the crucifix, the inner cross has a leaf and berry design. In a circle around the intersecting arms are the words 'PAS DE PAIX SANS DIEU' - no peace without God. There is a loop cast into the brass which has a ring for hanging it on a wall.

The brass has mellowed over the years and there are some areas of verdigris. We think it looks fabulous as it is but it would polish to a shiny finish if required.

The cross measures :- 44.5 cm (17.5 inches) high x 28 cm (11 inches) wide.
