B1033 - SOLD

This is a divine antique French pocket watch stand dating from the 1800's. It would have originally stood on a gentleman's night stand and he would have hung his watch from the hook at the top at night and placed his rings and cufflinks in the glass bowl beneath. It would now also be perfect for jewellery and would look lovely on a dressing table in a boudoir.

The frame of the stand is made of wirework decorated with toleware grapes and vine leaves. At the top is a tiny hook to hold the watch and below this is an oval mirror. The mirror is bevelled and would have reflected any decoration that may have been on the back of the watch.

The glass bowl sits on the base of the stand. To the front of it is a beautiful toleware flower garland. To either side is a toleware ring which would originally have held a glass bottle, now long gone but could possibly now be replaced.

The stand and it's glass bowl have survived the years in good condition. The silvering on the mirror plate has clouded & veined with the passage of time but the glass is intact with no chips or cracks.

The stand measures 22 cm (8.5 inches) high x 20 cm (8 inches) wide x 13 cm (5 inches) deep.

A lovely trinket stand to use and enjoy and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
