B1005 - SOLD

This is an exquisite long antique French tablecloth and 12 napkin set dating from the early 1900's. It would look superb on a long château table. It is in excellent condition. In fact the napkins are still tacked together and have never been used.

The tablecloth is made in a beautiful crisp cream linen and is absolutely covered in intricate emroidery and cut out lace detail.

Flowers, leaves and tendrils dominate the embroidery design. They are worked in a lovely soft grey silk which looks divine against the cream linen. The cut out work is joined in intricate lacework in various styles. The effect and attention to detail is truly stunning.

The napkins are bound in the same grey silk and have an embroidered and cut out lace design to one of the corners.

The cloth and napkins are as we found them - very crisp and fresh and in excellent antique condition. The cloth folds and drapes beautifully.

The tablecloth measures :- 260 cm (8 ft 6.5 inches) long x 168 cm (5 ft 6 inches) wide. We have photographed it on a 2 metre long French farmhouse table.

The napkins measure :- 41.5 cm (16.5 inches) square.

A truly exceptional antique French linen tablecloth & napkin set to add a très jolie touch to a salle à manger and another fabulous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
