Mödl was partnered by the heldentenor Ramón Vinay. His most successful role was Otello. Over a period of twenty years he performed the role more than two hundred and fifty times. From the early 1950s Vinay specialised in heldentenor roles, particularly by Wagner, he was noted for his performances of Parsifal, Siegmund, Tannhäuser and Tristan.
