Lillebror & Saami Pattern

A special Wollmeise sock club pattern, now available as a booklet.

The Lillebror (little brother) was literally shaped around my youngest son Finn’s lovely feet. Lots of love went into every single stitch as I twisted cables, added the heart and the tree. Bring out that special magic when you knit these socks - love, togetherness; minds meeting, sharing stories, enjoying the fun, participating, having things in common. 

• SIZE

women’s medium (large): US size 6½-7½ (8½-9), European foot size 37/38 (39/40)
[finished measurements]   9½ (9¾)" or 24 (25) cm foot length, 7½ (8)" [19 (20.5)cm] foot circumference, unstretched
To obtain gauge and to make the socks larger or smaller, use needles one or two sizes larger or smaller

• MATERIALS

1x 150 gram skein of Wollmeise 100% merino sock yarn in ‘Tant Brun, tant Grön och tant Gredelin’ or 'Saami', or any suitable sock yarn
US size 1 (2,25mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge
US size 1 (2.50mm) needles, or one size bigger than needles used to obtain gauge, for looser cuff (optional). Length of circular needle 80 or 100 cm.

• GAUGE

33 x sts = 4 x 4" (10 x 10cm) over Stockinette stitch using smaller needles

• PATTERN NOTES

The socks are worked toe-up on (1 or 2) circular needle(s), starting with Judy’s Magic Cast On. Please use dpn’s if you like.

The toe and gusset are patterned, the foot sole is entirely in Stockinette stitch.

The socks feature ‘gusset and flap’ heels: gusset increases are worked on upper foot, the reinforced heel is turned with short rows, then the gusset stitches are decreased away as the reinforced heel flap is worked.

Both sizes feature the same upper foot gusset. The sizes differ in the number of increases for the gusset: 2x 15 for medium, 2x 17 for large. To create socks of even larger sizes, add more gusset stitches. 

The pattern includes two different patterns, especially designed around the yarn.
