  women’s small : US size 6½-7½ European shoe size 37
  women’s medium: US 8, European 38/39
  women’s large: US 9, European 40

  Lengthen or shorten the foot as necessary to accomodate even smaller or bigger sizes.
• FINISHED SIZES

  Foot circumference: 8 (8, 8¼, 8¼)" or 20 (20, 20.5, 21) cmm
  
• YARN
  3.5oz / 100 gram skein of Fyberspates British Merino Dream Sock, 100% British merino sock yarn
• NEEDLES
  US size 1 / 2.5 mm and US size 2 / 2.75 mm (for higher instep or additional cuff shaping) needles, or size to obtain gauge. Length of circular needle 80 or 100 cm.
• GAUGE
  32 sts x 40 rows = 4 x 4" (10 x 10 cm), or 8 sts per 1″ in Stockinette stitch
• SKILLS
  Knitting in the round, chart reading.
• PATTERN NOTES
  • the socks toe-up on (1 or 2) circular needle(s), starting with Judy’s Magic Cast On. The pattern is written for the Magic Loop method, but use dpn’s if you like.
  • The toe, the side of the foot, the gussets, and leg are ribbed. The foot sole is mostly in stockinette stitch (Stst).
  • The socks feature ‘gusset and flap’ heels: gusset increases are worked on upper foot, the heel is turned with short rows, then the gusset stitches are decreased away as the heel flap is worked.
  • Accurate row gauge is important for this pattern.
  • The sizes differ in the foot length; the gussets are the same for all sizes.
