Zum Dirndl

A traditional Bavarian stocking, Zum Dirndl is knit toe-up on a circular needle.

Knit Zum Dirndl with (semi) solid yarn for better results

SIZE
S, M & L European foot size 36,5 - 41, US 6 - 9.5
To obtain gauge and to make the socks larger or smaller, use needles one or two sizes larger or smaller
To fit heavier or more muscular calves, increase more stitches in the Sampler purl sections.
FINISHED SIZE
Total Foot Length 23,5 - 26,5 / 9.25 - 10.5" cm
Mid Foot circumference – about 18 - 20,5 cm / 7 - 8"
Ankle circumference – about 27 cm / 10.6"
YARN
Wollmeise (used here: 80% Superwash Merino-wool/20% Polyamide, colour 'Natur') or any other (semi) solid sock yarn, 300 grams (2 skeins)
NEEDLES
2.25 mm / US 1 circular needle(s) or set(s) double-point needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Length of circular needle 80 or 100 cm.
GAUGE
30 sts = 10 cm or 4" in Stockinette stitch
SKILLS
Basic crochet, turning short rows, twisted or travelling stitches, knitting in the round, chart reading.
PATTERN NOTES
The socks are worked toe-up on one circular needle. Use two circulars or dpn's if preferred. Toe is provisionally cast on, but use Jusy's Magic Cast On if you like.
